wild baby bunnies, can I have them fixed when they are old enough

Question
We have a nest in our backyard.  The bunnies appear to be doing well.  They are about a week old.  Can I take them to a vet to have them spayed and nuetered when they are of age and the mother isn't necessary to care for them anymore.  I don't care if they live in my backyard, but I don't want them to reproduce and overpopoulate it.
Or, should I just leave them alone and let nature take its course.

Answer
Dear Jennifer,

If these are wild cottontails (if you're in the U.S.), then do not even consider having them spayed/neutered.  They are wild animals, native fauna, and should be left intact to perpetuate their species and be part of the local ecosystem.  Nature will take its course.

If these are *domestic* rabbits, however, then they should be spayed/neutered and adopted for their safety.  You can find a good vet here:

But if they are truly wild, then please don't interfere.  Nature wants them to reproduce and live naturally, gonads and all.  :)

Hope that helps.
