Very messy bottom, just got over being sick

Question
QUESTION: My dwarf hotot just recently had an obstruction in the digestive tract, after taking her to the vet and two subQ flushes of mineral oil and pedialyte and critical care, she came back.  Thanks goodness!  I was feeding her lots of vegetables and she was pooping like crazy but the poop seems a little more runny than normal.  Now I just wanted to let her out to get some exercise and she is matted and has a hard piece of feces stuck to her and her feet are covered in feces also.  How can I possibly clean her up?  I have some bunny bath, not the powder but a spray but I tried to use that and it is just not working.  Can you suggest anything that could clean her up?  Thanks so much for any help you can give.

ANSWER: Dear Michele,

Please read:

It's not unusual to see messy poop soon after an illness, since GI tract slowdown could disrupt the normal intestinal flora.  But to get her clean again, these tips should help:

Hope she's completely well soon!

QUESTION: I am currently giving her the medication for coccidia and I was wondering if that could be the reason for the "wet poop"?  She was sick for about a week was fine most of this week and I just noticed the poop stuck to her today.  I think it could be the medicine, any ideas?  Thanks again for your help and quick response!

Answer
Hi, Michele

What is the medication she's getting?  We've used both ponazuril and Panacur, and have not seen any side effects from either drug.  If the medication is trimethoprim sulfa or Albon (sulfadiazene), those shouldn't cause messy butt, either.
