Question
Hi, i have a three month old baby rabbit.  He was eating just fine about two days ago, but now he feels really really skinny and he is passing clear "tube" like things.  It seems like he can't lay comfortably and hes breathing really hard.  Today the only thing that it will eat is whole milk and baby formula.  Im really worried what do i do for it?
thanks, Adrienne

Answer
Dear Adrienne,

This is a very sick bunny, and he needs veterinary attention immediately.  He is very young, and mucoid enteritis (the clear tubes you see are probably stools made of mucus) can be fatal without quick treatment.

You can find a good vet here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

If all you can find right now is an emergency vet, then please take this with you, if the vets are amenable to getting information from the internet.

I hope it will help you save your baby.  Please waste no time in getting him to a good vet.  This should be considered an emergency.

I hope this helps.
