-----Question-----
Our pet rabbit which we thought was a boy has had babies!  He (sorry she) escaped from her pen and got up to no good.  The pen is now secure. I would like to keep all the girls out of the litter.  At what age should I separate the boys?  Is it ok to leave the girls with Mum?  Look forward to your reply.  This is a fantastic website.

You can keep all the girls, but you will need everyone in their own cage by the age of 3 months. Girls included. Boys should be separated from mom and girls at 8-10 weeks, and then separate from each other by 3 months old. Glad you have babies!!!! They are exciting!
We have made a huge pen on our acreage property and would have liked to keep a few rabbits to run free together.  You mention separating the girls as well.  Could they not all live together as the grow older? There is plenty of room for them all.  Thanks for your time and reply.

Answer
I suppose if raised all together the whole time and no time alone, they may be ok together. You will have to make sure 100% that they are female. REmember with multiple animals that shelter for each individual rabbit, and a cage space of 30X30 inches since together is needed for each to live happily. Just check them often for signs of fighting/breeding. If you notice anyone fighting, you will need to separate them away from the rest of the group. Once fights start, they will not stop.
One of the main reasons I say not to do this is because when does=females come in heat, they do tend to be more agressive, and may try fighting/mounting the other females.
