Question
Hello Andrea!
I have 2 lady bunnies. (a 5month dwarf and a 2 month mini lop)  I am going away for a week, and leaving my loves in care of my roommates. I am trying to make a list on how to care for them. Any tips beside how much food to give, that you think they would need to know? Also, I don't want my roommates to let them out/handle them  because i don't think they will be careful enough with them. Besides making them lonely, will  staying in their cages for a week case any long term effects?

Answer
Well, here's what I can think of for instructions to leave for  your roommates, you may have already thought of some of these:
1.  Phone number of your vet
2.  Phone number of an emergency vet clinic
3.  Your feeding routine - when, how much
4.  Your cleaning routine and instructions
5.  Information so they might know what signs of illness in rabbits are

To make it easier for them, your feed, veges, and hay could be portioned out for each day into ziploc bags.

There probably won't be any longterm effects of staying in the cages for a week.  Hopefully, the roommates will be doing some cage cleaning, so the rabbits stay clean.  They will be lonely, and they'll miss not having their time out.

They probably will be very active when they're out for the first time when you get home.  And they may do something on purpose that is bad, just to let you know they didn't like you being gone.

Have a good time on your trip.
