Question
When I bought my bunny, Mr. West, I started him off with Jr. Bunny food
which was banana flavored. I slowly tried to switch him to adult food, but he
won't eat the adult pellets and I think it's because they are not banana
flavored. I tried buying some kind of mixed variety of pellets and dried fruits.
He picked around the pellets and ate the fruit. I make sure he has plenty of
hay. What do I do?

Answer
Dear Hannah,

Your bunny is a junk food junkie!  It's time for some tough love, though, to keep him healthy.

Wean him from his junk food by providing him with fresh greens and herbs, as described here:

Buy a very good quality pellet that has an appealing aroma, such as Oxbow, Purina, or Manna-Pro (no treat bits!  Just pellets!) and be sure to provide LOTS of fresh timothy hay, which can be bought from Oxbow (www.oxbowhay.com) or American Pet Diner (www.americanpetdiner.com).  The latter I mention because they carry second-cut "Timmy Gold" hay, which can get even the most spoiled bunny to eat his hay.  :)  Unfortunately, Oxbow no longer carries second cut hay.

I hope this will help you get Mr. West on the road to a lifetime of good health.
