My rabbit was bitten......

Question
 I have an older rabbit who has always been very friendly and wonderful.  She has played with my dogs for a while.
 Anyways my dog bit her today.  She was wet on her ears, back of her head and her side.  I am terrified!  Will she be okay?  She was panting very hard and laying very low to the ground.  I put her in her cage and gave treats to try and calm her down.  She is no longer panting but not eating.  I am afraid that her front right leg may be injured.  She has not moved since I put her in the cage.  This happened 2 hours ago.
 Will she still be friendly?  How can I tell if she's okay?  I don't want to take her to a vet and get her more upset.  I have no idea what I should do.  PLEASE HELP!  I feel horrible!

Answer
Hello Crystal.

Rabbits don't usually pant, they only pant when they are suffering with heat exhaustion. Also in heat exhaustion they lie on the ground to their side. If you want more information on heat exhaustion just ask.

She might not have moved in her hutch because of fright but i think that the best thing to do is to take her to the vets immediately. There isn't much you can do yourself to cure her legs, that is more the vets responsibility.

Rabbits that are scared general breath a lot faster. There are ways you can check whether your rabbit is okay like is she limping? Is she drinking? Is she cleaning? Is she eating? If you would like more advice heres a good website:

Rabbits in pain will become aggressive to others so watch out for that as well.

If you want more ways on how to see if your rabbit is okay just ask.

heres some advice;
keep your rabbit calm and spend a lot of time and care with your rabbit and make your rabbit feels relaxed. Try not to startle her in any way and make sure she doesn't feel like she is under attack in any situation.

You may feel that the vets will make your rabbit upset but they are the best people to check your rabbit and by any means cure your rabbit.

I do hope you take my advice and go to the vets.

Thank You
