Change in genitals

Question
Hi, i recently moved to china and adopted a baby rabbit to save it from a cooking pot approximately 3 months ago.  Not many people thought she would survive, however now she is a happy, healthy and fairly spoilt rabbit.  I recently went home for a few weeks and left her in the care of my aunt who took great care of her.  Now that i am back, i have noticed that she has two swollen sacks on either side of her genitals.  They seem tender to touch but have not affected her in any other way, she still eats, plays and defecates normally.  I have given her the worming treatment i brought back from Australia and am wondering what i can do to fix this, or if.. in my ignorance, she is actually a he or something similarly simple.

There are no rabbit vets here, i have to get all her pellets and hay specially delivered and had to travel interstate for her cage etc.. I cannot move her(due to transport laws), but can and will go to Shanghai for any medicines that she may need.

Thanks very much

Answer
Dear Lauren,

It would seem that your little girl is actually a "he".  You can see pictures of rabbit naughty bits linked here:

to know for sure.  But the description you give sounds like typical testicles.  The good news is that your bunny won't have the very high risk that the usual unspayed, unbred female rabbit has for uterine cancer.  :)  Testicular cancer, while it does happen in some cases, is much more rare, and usually occurs only in older rabbits.  Hope your bunny will never have any problems in that regard.

Hope that helps.
