Question
hi, I don't know if my bunny is going to make it through the night. We don't know what is wrong with her. Shes three years old. She isn't eating on her own and she isn't passing a bowl movement at all for the past 24 hrs. we have been force feeding her and giving her liquids. Since she has been sick before (constipation# we gave her pineapple juice and she got better the next day, we have given her various foods and liquids including pineapple juice, mineral oil, and papaya. This is all stuff that we heard was recommended to get the bowls going again. She is very sick and we can't do anything. Our vet doesn't deal with rabbits, so the only thing they can do is put her down. If he makes it by morning, i think we may do that? We have no idea what this is..could it be a blockage? Its so hard watching her suffer and not being able to do anything about it.

Thanks, Laura

PS: i know that this is an emergency, but like i said, there is no vets available, #i live in a small town) i just want to know what is wrong)

Answer
Dear Laura,

Please read this immediately:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/sickbun.html

and share it with your vet.  Also give your vet this:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/ileus.pdf

and read:

I hope you do not put her down, as she may be in a condition that is quite treatable!
