Question
We found a wild rabbit that is white the momma rabbit is a brown and all the other little ones r brown to but there was this one white of the litter. We was just wondering what the chance of that was of having a white wild rabbit. We know that there is tame ones that are white but nobody around here has any tame rabbits.

Answer
Hi Randy,

There are wild albino rabbits but they are extremely rare.  I don't know much about wild rabbits but I know that the albino gene is recessive and both parents must carry it.  If it is indeed a wild rabbit then both of its wild parents carried that gene.  It is impossible for a domestic rabbit and a wild rabbit to breed unless you live in Europe.  All albino animals are more prone to be attacked by predators.  They do not blend in to the scenery like their full colored relatives.  Perhaps this is why they are so rare but again I really have no experience with wild rabbits.

I wish I could help further.
