Introducing baby rabbit to two older females

Question
Hi,

I bought a 5 week-old male baby Netherland Dwarf, to eventually use for breeding with my two 6 month-old females (sisters). We have had them since 6 weeks, so they are very much at home in our back yard by now and have their own cage to go into and out of when it suits them.

Can you advise me on how to help the youngster adapt well to the other two? I'm just scared that they might bully the baby; they showed a lot of interest last night at first introduction. They immediately sniffed & licked & chinned the baby - I was scared they'd get too rough so now the baby is in 'protective custody' in the others' cage. Is this a mistake?

Answer
hi jinnie you will need to keep the young male seperate as the two adults will attack it if you leave him with them -its very hard to put two strange rabbits together they will always fight.in time they may accept him but it may take a long time.
