Rabbit Ears, crust loss of hair

Question
Our new rabbit is about 3-4 months old and he has a small rim of crust framing his ears. in the insides he has similar crust but they look like red bumps and now his ears are starting to lose patches o hair.  I've tried to put Neosporin on them but it does not help.  Please let me know if there is some remedy I can use at home or try before I have to spend a large amount at the vet.
Thanks so very, very much.

Answer
Hi Maggie. It sounds like your bunny has ear mites. There is a product that you can get at the farm supply store called Ivermectin that will get rid of the mites, however it costs about $40.00 for a bottle. It would be just a cheap to take your bunny to the vet and have him take care of it and know the problem is resolved. I would vote for the vet.   Pat
