Blood in fecal matter

Question
My rabbit is approximately 7 years old, she is free to roam the house and has always been healthy. Yesterday we noticed some blood in her fecal matter, and when we hold her as we always have (upside down, like one would hold a baby), she seemed uncomfortable, and when we let her down she seemed to make a strange vocalization. She had some more blood in her fecal matter today - any ideas as to what this could mean? Thank you!

Answer
Hi Anna,

it could be a number of things.  Some kind of intestinal infection, or it could even be coming from her uterus.  This is definitely a serious problem that requires a vet to examine her and determine what the problem is.  I would not put off going to the vet, I would get her to one as soon as you can.  They don't have a lot of blood to lose, and if she's fighting an illness on top of this, she will get weaker.

Please get her to a vet as soon as you physically can.
