Bonding Woes

Question
i had 2 bunnies that WERE bonded but when i brought in the third bunny from a rescue, there was a serious fight among the BONDED two causing a bad lip injury so now all three are separated.

i have 2 females (one is new) and one male, all spayed or
neutered.  i originally had a male and a female, now i brought in another female.

the problem is, every time i try to bond them, in a neutral area, they really seem to fight.  usually i find cuts on them so i have been discouraged and stopped the bonding.  the 2 females always seem to instigate.  i am worried about this fighting and don't know how to bond rabbits that go after each other RIGHT away.  we try to rub each others scents on each other, spray water on them if necessary, pet them together, etc. but they seem to go after each other the second we step back.  i am really worried that someone will get injured again.

they must be used to each other's smells by now (its been a few months).  i keep their cages next to each other and let them run around in x-pens near each other- but not DIRECTLY, they try to bite each other through the bars sometimes.

i would love for them all to be bonded but it seems like the females won't allow it!
Help!

Answer
Dear Gina,

When it comes to bonding, the rabbits are always the ones who make the final decisions.  I hope you can mend these broken bonds.  Since they're all spayed/neutered, then I hope the articles you'll find here:

will be helpful.

Good luck!
