Question
I have a female Holland lop rabbit who is loosing hair on her ears and a little on her back. I also have a male holland lop rabbit who looks normal. They both live outside. I brought them to the vet over a week ago because I thought my female rabbit might have mites. The vet didn't find any bugs on her but she gave her a shot of Ivermectin just incase. They arn't spayed/nuetered and I have never bred them so the vet thought that maybe my female rabbit was scratching/rubbing her hair off because she wanted to breed with my male rabbit so the vet told me to keep them away from each other so they won't smell/see eachother.
It's been over a week since I brought them to the vet and I have kept them away from each other. My female rabbit still has hair missing and it doesn't look any better. She still scratches herself. My male rabbit looks like he might be loosing some hair on his ears but I can't tell. I have fair this week and I don't know what to do. It is soo expensive to go to the vet so I don't think I will be going back. Any advice? Do you think they have mites/a bug?

Any advice would be great, thanks!

Answer
Without seeing them I really don't know. You can try an old remedy we use. Get some Listerine (or the dollar store version of it), and put a syringe full on the nape of the neck. That helps kill and ward off any mites they may have gotten. We have some that do the same thing just for no reason. Also, make sure you try to keep the flies controlled around them. Good luck to you!
