Broken Bunny toes!!!

Dear Pam,
today morning, I found the leg of my rabbit is stuck on the metal cage. Since then, I saw one of her toes is dangling. She would let me touch her 'broken toe' but do not seem to be in pain. Will it heal itself or what?

Hi Jenny,

There is not much you can do for a broken toe.  The best thing to do is to make sure she is not in severe pain.  If she is still eating, drinking and passing fecal pellets she will probably be fine.  The best way to prevent broken toes is to use cages that are not wire.  Sometimes that is just not possible but if you keep them trimmed on a regular basis this will also help.
