5 week old piggy vomiting

Question
Hi! 4 days ago we rescued a 5 wk old piglet. We were told she had been bottle fed, as her mom wouldnt care for her. She seems fine, but after I feed her she throws up. Not everytime, but yesterday was the first day that she threw up twice in a day. Its only right after she eats. I give her 6 oz of milk warmed with a goat nipple? Could it be shes eating too much too fast? Should I try a smaller nipple whole? If I put rice cereal in it, would that help? SHe pees fine & frequently-but hasnt pooped "alot". I have located a vet that will see her, but my husband wants to see if there is anything we can do first.
Any suggestions would be helpfull---Thanks Lori Given :)

Answer
Hello,
Many piglets are eating pig pellets by this age.
Try feeding here her less at one feeding and make sure pig pellets are available for her all the time at this age.  She will start eating on her own soon.
The goat milk could also be too rich for her so try diluting it half and half with water.
The best feed for her at this age is on the Royal Dandie web site.
Their starter chow is a complete feed that was designed for just weaned piglets.
Have them do a rush shipment to you so your piglet will get off to a good start.  The Vit/MIns they have are also a must for growing piglets.
In the mean time add rice baby cereal to her milk, feed two ounces at a time and feed every two hours.
That should take care of the problem.
Good luck,
Patty
