rat spazing

hi i came home today to find my rat very cold and listless, and so i attempted to warm him up with hot bottles and that seemed to help got him stronger but now he is have these jumping attacks that are creepy anyways his stomach is bigger then normal and he feels very brittle like...whats wrong with him?

First, let me apologize for not being able to answer your question earlier. I tried to log onto AllExperts three times last night and each time my computer crashed. I don't think I'm going to be much good to you at this point.

You came home to your rat dieing last night. You revived him by warming him up and when you did so he went into a panic attack because his disease had progressed to end-stage Mycoplasmosis. He can't breath because of too much lung scarring. The bloating is a result of getting too much air in his stomach because gasping for breath causes them to gulp air into the stomach. If he hasn't already passed away, I am sorry to have to tell you that the kindest thing to do for him is euthanasia, unless your vet can provide oxygen and medication for him and you are prepared for aggressive, intensive nursing care.
