agouti

Question
I have an agouti, and i was thinking that as he is a large rodent, he may be classfied in the same category. His stomach is bloated, and he is breathing heavily. He appeared worse off a few hours ago, but now he is sitting up and looking around, but is obviously in discomfort. i cannot get him to a vet here because there are very few vets here (trinidad) that look after things other than dogs, cats and cattle. He was fine earlier today. He is about a year and a half old, and has been eating his usual things today, bananas, string beans, sunflower seeds, okra. i am keeping an eye on him very carefully.

I wish I could help -- however I know NOTHING about Agoutis. I would assume that he's having either some sort of gastrointestinal problem (with bloating it generally means a blockage or something similar) but I know nothing about the species Agouti - just the brown color we see on our fancies! Sorry! I hope he feels better!
