Spayed rat

My babies are being spayed tomorrow morning and I think the vet removes the ovaries not the whole uterus.  Which is best?

He is only doing an Ovariectomy which is no good for female rats and here is why:  Female rats are prone to uterine tumors and also a very nasty type of infection called pyometra, so the normal routine for a spay is a complete hysterectomy, not a partial.
