Respiratory disease

Question
I was giving my rat Baytril injections which seemed to get rid of it but apparently not enough since it came back almost instantly. Also it gave him skin lesions. My vet then gave me oral Baytril but it seems to barely help him. The vet wouldn't give me medicine I had read helps with a rats respiratory disease it's called gentomicin I beleive. His teeth seem to be bothering him and it is hard for him to chew drinking doesn't seem to be that hard. I have been taking him out of his cage several times a day and recently noticed part of his tail turning black and the skin coming off of these parts. Is all of this because of malnutrition? I'm not sure what will help him and what won't. Is there any medicine that you think can help him? Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Answer
Well, If the respiratory infection is still there you can find an Herb Called Dock, Most stores dont sell it but Im sure a nursery has it. Give him the Dock and spinach for the Respiratory infection. as for teeth problem are they to long? or are they in need or a correction from the vet? if they are in need of a vet give him foods that are mushy such as mushed bananas, apple sauce, or if you want put his food in a blender. If they are just over grown you can try to use a ail file and file them down or give him a chew stick from Walmart, petsmart. I dont think him not eating is due to his skin dieing, Your rat is very sick, the areas where his skin is coming off is dieing and his tail will be lost. Your vet may have something that can help with his skin dieing but Do you know if your rat had an allergic reaction to his meds? If your vet is not helping try another. I have no knowledge of a medicine that can help for the skin problem, Sorry.

I wish you the best of luck.
