allergy

hi, i have kept rats for about 10 years and recently i was bought some for my birthday from my children, a couple of days later i started with itchy and sore eyes, and asthma like symptoms i have been to see the doctor whos at the moment is treating me for asthma, is this a coincidence or have i developed an allergy?

It could be a coincidence, but it sure sounds like an allergy.

Are you using anything new regarding bedding, food, or shampoo/cologne? If so, chuck the new stuff and go back to the old, give it a week or two, and see how you are.

When was the last time you had a rat (was there a big gap between your last ones and these ones?) It could be a spontaneous allergy.

Have you washed the rats since you brought them home? They may have residual "something" on them that's causing your sinuses to go haywire - try giving them a good bath and see if it helps!
