Question
Hello

How big should a cage for one degu be? how much bigger should it be for each addional degu?

At what age can they be bred? can a group of females be kept with a male?

Answer
Your cage should be designed for a chinchilla.  It should also be completely METAL as degus get out of plastic easily.

A typical chinchilla/ferret metal cage should hold 4 degus.  Make sure there is room for bowls, toys and chinchilla dust baths.

I do not breed my degus until they are 6 months of age.  Only one male should be kept with females.  Remember if you breed them the male will mate again straight after the female has given birth so take him out a week before she is due.
