Chinchilla as first pets

Question
HI. I've thinking about having a chinchilla as a pet and i was wondering what are the advantages and disadvantages of having chinchilla's as pets? How are they different than pet rabbits because I have two pet rabbits now and they are spoiled rotten! They each have their own three story NIC Condo and they are neutered and potty trained though they live outside.

Do chinchilla's need to be spayed or neutered? can they be potty trained? do they smell like rabbits do? is their poo pellets like rabbits? do they make noise? can they live in an NIC condo? are they just like rabbits just more chubbier? I have many questions!

Answer
Hello,
I have a chinchilla of my own and they are wonderful pets to have!! :)  I will tell you some stuff off of what I know now from my experience with my chinchilla. They are similar to rabbits but they would not get along together, so if you decide to get one, do not put them together. They are deffinatly not chubbier than rabbits, lol, i had a rabbit and it was HUGE...but of course healthy. To be honest, they really dont smell at all, they have special dust bath that they roll in to keep them clean and their furr healthy and soft as they are and if you keap their cage clean, they should smell just fine. They are very nice and fun to be around. Im not sure about potty training them though or being fixed either. If your rabbits can fitt in an NIC condo, then so can a chinchilla, but do not put them together because they would most likely end up hurting each other because they normaly don't like other animals. Mine does not like any of my other animals and hates my dog, lol.

I hope I answered most of your questions! :)   feel free to ask me more because I am always here and will look up information if you want me to.
GOOD lUCK!!!! :)
