wood question on chinchillas

Question
i was wondering if birch and oat were safe woods to chew on.  I have been looking at breeders websites and they are both listed on the safe list and unsafe list depending on where i look.

I also heard that popcylce sticks were all made out of birch wood, and if that is true then i know it's safe for chins because many webstores sell them.. i also heard that most bird items are chin safe and i was gonna order from a bird place and the wood items were made out of oak that was milled.  so i'm getting confused.

thanks.

Answer
Everything that I have learned about Chinchilla is against Birch as a safe wood. To be on the safe side it would better to choose something else then take a chance and have something toxic. Now as far as oak is concerned it is also toxic and not recommended. I would go with something like :

Cottonwood
Apple
Willow
Pear
Mulberry
Crab-apple
Hazelnut
Dogwood rose
Bamboo
Grape
Manzanita
Hawthorn
Magnolia
Pecan
Pine
Chinese Dogwood
Horse Apple
Kiwi

Always assume its toxic unless it is not on any list that you find. Better safe then sorry.

Websites I recommend :)
