Question
Hello Natasha!

You answered a question of mine once before, so I decided to come back!

(In follow up to the question about "A Sick Female Mouse // And an Aggressive Male", I put Pippin on vitamins, one drop a day right into the mouth followed by a couple drops of water. She started to regain strength, but her original owner took her on a move to a different state, and unfortunately she, and her mother, both did not survive. Specs, the aggressive male, along with most of his siblings, went to a home here in town and last I've heard have been doing fine!)

I kept two of the boys though, Rascal and Taz, both of whom are fully grown and separated. I came home today to find Taz sitting under his water, completely drenched and freezing, when he had been running on his wheel just the night before, perfectly fine.

When I inspected him, I noticed his penis was an odd yellow color, completely different from his brothers. Upon a closer examination, it looked like something was in there, so I carefully removed it. It was almost like a plug.

I switched him into his brothers tank so there is a light to keep him warm, and as I'm watching him now, he seems to be getting a little more active, and is both eating and drinking.

I checked for any articles on this problem, but found nothing, so it could be a one in a million thing, but if you have any advice on what to do to prevent it, or anything on the sort, I'd love it! Thanks again!

Answer
Hi,

I will answer better tomorrow (am on phone, middle of night) just wanted to say the light is a good idea; keep him warm, warm, warm. Also get some calories in him- honey mixed with milk; flavored yogurt; ensure; cheese, etc.

I hope he is OK and when I get a chance I will write more and you will get a notification

Came back to answer and I see you haven't read it. I'm afraid that means the mouse has died? That does not surprise me.

I have twice found a dead mouse soaked in water. I do not know how it happens. It is possible for a water bottle to stick and the water all to leak out, but why wouldn't the mouse move? Why would it be under the water bottle? Mice don't sleep under water bottles. I am afraid I have no answer as to why. But I am sure it has nothing to do with the penis plug.

My heartfelt condolences if he is over the rainbow bridge. If not, and you saved him, I would like to know.

squeaks,

Natasha
