When is the best time to play with my hermit crabs?

I generally don't play with my hermit crabs and have adopted a hands off policy. However, if you think that you would like to interact with yours the best thing to do would be too look for the crab that is the most interested and active. One that is out walking around a lot and exploring and doesn't seem afraid to emerge from it's shell onto your hand. Wait until the crab is out and about before you take him out to play with him.

So I guess the answer to your question is that the best time is really up to your crabby!
