short-hared guinea pig

i have a 4 year old female.  I have noticed over the past week that she is losing alot of hair.  this has never happened bbefore.  any syggestions?

This is a situation that has happened to me before.  There are numerous causes for this problem, too.  It can be caused by something as minor as an allergy, or it can be a symptom of a disease more major.  Since it has never happened before, I recommend taking the animal to a vet and having it examined.  He may prescribe a skin cream or something a little more complex.  I'm sorry I don't have a little more help for you, but it's my best recommendation, especially since I am not there to see the animal.
