Large lump

Question
My guinea pig LuLu is a little over four years old and within the last month I have noticed a large mass under her chin.  It is growing at a rapid pace.  She still likes to eat and play and the lump doesn't seem to be bothering her.  My fear is that she is too old to go through a surgery to remove a tumor removed and I don't want to put her through any pain.  Do have any ideas what could be growing so quickly?  It was the size of a raisin and now it is the size of a large grape.  Thanks for any info you can provide.  Ally~*

Answer
Hey Ally, well it seems like it is probably what we call an abcess. An abcess is something that grows under the Guinea pigs chin and it is caused by the Gp eating something that either periced the mouth or cheek. It can grow outwards toward the throat and neck. Is there any pus coming out of it? If so, the Abcess must be laced and drained. This will require a vet visit. If there is no pus, then it must be a tumor, or some other type of growth. I wish i could help you more, but the best thing to do, is to take her to the vet and see what the vet says. At least, have some Idea on what it is. It is your choice and your vets to see if she should have surgery. I am really sorry and please let me know how it goes, thanks and please rate me if you get a chance.
