Introducing a 2nd female guinea pig

Question
Hello, I recently bought a second female guinea pig the other day to go with my 3 month old female guinea pig.  The first night that I brought the new one home I put them both on a blanket on the floor and let them see each other then I placed them both in the same cage.  I soon realized that they weren't getting along so now I have them in two separate cages side by side.  The older one goes on as usual but the younger one is very nervous and scared.  Should I put them back in the same cage with each other?  How can I help them to get along?  What do I need to do so that they can like each other?  Please help me.  Thank you

Answer
Hello Scott!
I would try to let them see each other on the blanket again just to familiarize them with each other. Then to help them get used to each others scent put each guinea pig in the others cage. Then clean out the cage you want both of them in together and clean it really good, disinfect it so their is no smell. Then take both cavies and bathe them, then when they are dry put baby powder on them so they both have the same scent. And also sprinkle a little in the cage. Then put both guinea pigs in the cage and watch them to see if they are fighting or nipping at each other. Just as long as they aren't fighting then they should live together happy for along time! :)
Good Luck and tell me how it goes!
