guinea pig (paralysis) too urgent

Question
QUESTION: hi,
today my male guinea pig suddenly started dragging his body because his hind legs started skidding and he was shivering a bit when i saw him.when after enough tries he was not able to move he rested flat on his belly, all flat.
nobody picks him up except me and hid did not fall at all from anywhere.uptill morning he was alright.he is very quick normally.i found him in the situationat 2pm.

when i went to first vet(not for guinea pigs, a dog specialist for 25 years) he said Timmy(my male pig) had heatstroke and needed injection for fever and some medicine for power,he asked me to also take advice from another vet, meanwhile i had put him on a not so wet towel to keep him cool from the stroke(if it was really heatstroke)
went to another vet(again not for pigs, but seemed more convincing than the first one) he said body temp was below normal so he cannot provide any medication. He asked me to give him glucon-d( a glucose drink) to him drop by drop.

I knew he was not eating so had to give a few drops using a syringe(without needle).but suddenly i noticed that he was willing to eat but he couldn't pull up his head to reach the food.when i picked his head a few milimeters up from ground and removed my hand his head fell on ground again.so i gave him food by holding his head on my hands as he ate.but on a few occasions i saw him with his head up.
But he is all flat with rear feet flattened away like wings.he was trying to move but was not able to, rear legs are moving but skidding and not able to carry him, front hands are showing better movement than rear legs but not perfect movement.
So now the situation is he is resting flat on his belly in his cage with his alright cage-mate( a female, probably pregnant).

What should i do? , any diagnosis or if u have heard of it before?
shall i keep the alright pig with him? , is it cure-able?
any medicines u want to suggest? please help me i don't want to loose him nor want him to suffer, although he is not crying out of pain, but sometimes makes a dissatisfying noise when touched to inspect( no specific place where he reacts on touch). Please help.

ANSWER: get him on a high vitimin diet, and if possible get baytril which is an anti biotics, treat him with both of these, if he is not better after a few days then witohut a qualified vet i dint think there is anything you can do for him.

best of luck

QUESTION: thanks Sam,
now he has recovered much without any medication and is able to eat his poop by bending inwards, and i see some strength in his rear legs now, but still he is lazy and resting(eating though).Do you think he has any infections and shall i give him antibiotics( i wish if he can recover by himself, i'm afraid of the side effects of antibiotics, he is just 4.5 months old) and shall i give him any dose for gaining strenth?
Any dose i give means it will be given by the vet and approved by him, i'm not doctoring him ,i'm monitoring him.

ANSWER: well if you do use an antibiotic i recommend baytril, there are some antibiotics that are poisonous to guinea pigs, baytril so long as you do not over dose him would not have any serious or long term side effects. it is difficult to say what is wrong with him, i would still keep him on a high vitimin c diet, lack of vitimin c can cause paralysis in them, what it could also be is pnenomia, it is unlikly though vit c it the most likly cause, so perosnally i would give him high vitimin c diet and som antibiotics to cover all territories.

QUESTION: thanks again,
the vet told me to give Bethadoxin-B12(a multivitamin syrup)
i gave him 1.2ml of it through syringe(without needle),i already told u that i gave them fresh barseem so there was less possibility that vit c was the cause, now he is able to move(not briskly though, but improved).I'm worried because i haven't seen him pee( maybe he peed somewhere else, but i'm monitoring him for his pee).I did'nt ask the doctor whether to give him the syrup again or not?shall i give him again?
Now since i'll leave tomorrow(coz of my semester exams),i want to leave him in a state that needs not much monitoring.
Moreover the vet i'm consulting,i'm afraid of him,he talks in rude tone when i ask him questions( like what is this medicine for, why shuld i give the syrup to the female who is perfect), so i'm afraid about his reaction to ask about baytril, and i'll not give timmy an antibiotic myself(without the help of the vet).and if he needs baytril what amount should be given to him.I've read somewhere that baytril should be given only to adult pigs(he is 4 - 4.5 months old) and the substitute for young ones is  Bactrim (Tribrissen). which one shall i give him?

Answer
four months makes him an adult really, they are bred normally between four to six months and baytril is a good idea to use because with vitimin c covered then baytril should treat most other problems that the pig has.

okay now onto baytril, typically a bottle strength is 2.5% if you can get an oral bottle then that will be better.
of this bottle give the pig 3ml twice a day for about two weeks.

alternativly you can give a single dose of 8ml a day however this may be dangerous as such a high amount in a single go does make some guinea pigs ill.

best of luck
