pregnant hamster diet

I do alot of reading about hamsters.  I have read it is okay to give a hamster cheese and that it is not okay to give cheese.  Smokey, our Black Bear hamster is pregnant.  My mom and I are very excited.  The baby we will keep already has a brand new cage and he isn't even born yet!  Is it okay to give smokey things like chex cereal?  or does it have hidden sugar?

Hi Nicholas,

It's okay to give your hamster fresh, small amounts of cheese.  Like any other supplement to your hamster's regular mix, give the cheese sparingly - no more than twice a week.  Also, Chex Mix is fine.  You can also give the hamster Rice Crispies and Cheerios.
