Question -
my hamster is  11 weeks old i bought gizmo 4 days from a pet store when ever i pick it up and look at its stomach it totaly freaks out and has bein hording food in its nest and sleeping quite a bit into the night and i thought they were noctournal
so some sites say that some of these are sings of a pregnancy is this true and if so is it likely it is pregnent

Answer -
Hi Josh,

It is possible she is pregnant, but I would hope not. Just for the fact that she is too young and this could cause her problems.  Female hamsters should be at least 4 months old before having a litter.  Hamsters hoard food in their nest all the time. This is not a sure sign of pregnancy. I would suggest you watch your hamster and if her sides start to poof out (a bump on each side), then it is very possible that she is pregnant. The sides usually poof out 10 days into the pregnancy. That means the babies can be expected 6-7 days after that.

Thank you for your question!

if sje is pregnant what other sings should i lok for and what are some complacations

Answer -
Hi Josh,

Other signs are, hoarding food a lot more than usual and building a big nest.  Some complacations would be, heavy bleeding, babies not coming out (gitting stuck), Mom dying during birth or after.

hell my hamster ha not ben sleeping in the same place but still has a neest with horded food does this mean the the babies would come soon is she expecting them at any time  or is she just acting strange

Answer -
Hi Josh,

Hamsters will sometimes sleep in a different spot, that is normal behavior. Has your hamster gotton any fatter (sides poofed out)?

a tiny bit shes ben sleepng alot more than usual
and is ira tated when i try to pick her up but ive ben feeding her a litel bit of leftover turkey every day and she eats it all not hording it for later  and for some reason she gets mad at her wheel she will slam it on the ground next to her second burro  any thoughts

Answer
Hi Josh,

I really don't think your hamster is pregnant. Tipping her wheel is just one of her ways of having fun. I have one that tips his wheel all the time.

I would suggest you stop feeding her the turkey. That is probably why she is sleeping a lot more than usual.
