Chinese dwarf protruding rear end

Question
Hi!  Yesterday we aquired a Chinese dwarf hamster and a Russian dwarf hamster from Craig's list.  The Chinese dwarf seemed to be afraid of the Russian (who seems to be a bit of a bully).  They were in the same Habitrail cage, but I moved each to his own cage.  I have been told they are both males.

My question is regarding the Chinese dwarf.  It seems to have an extremely protruding rear end, with what in a female I would guess to be a prolapsed uterus.  Is this normal?  If not, I'll get a vet to check him, but I'm completely new to dwarf hamsters.

Thanks for your help.

Marie

Answer
Dear Marie,
thank you for your question.
Male chinese dwarf hamsters have huge testicles, almost bigger than their head and it can look just like a tumor or something. Here's a pic of a a male, anything you can see from his hindpaws on are the testicles:

It was definitely a good idea to move each to it's own cage, dwarf hamsters usually don't even tolerate their own species after some time (except breeding pairs) and I'm fairly sure that one of the hamsters would have ended up dead when forced to share a cage.
I hope I was of some help to you
