blackbear hamsters

Question
Hi,
This is Melissa, one thing, I can't remove the wheel because she made her nest in it. The male has taken over every other spot she likes to sleep in. I don't have anywhere else to put the male. But I don't think he'll bother the babies when they come, because he's a runt and the only one that made it out of his litter. The babies are going to be three-fourths of his size. What should I do?

Answer
You still should find a way to get the male out of the cage, once the female gives birth she can get pregnant within a few hours of birth and hamsters are cannibals and they will hurt their young. I would try to find a cage that is fairly decent in size to house the male. You can find some cages for $20 at other pet stores. If she made her nest in the wheel then i would leave it alone.
