Is she pregnant?! HELP!!

My mom and I got two hamsters about two months ago, male and female. (At first we thought they were both girls)we do not know their ages, but we figure they are about at least four or five months old. They are in a cage together and we just noticed that the girl has put on sme weight. Her stomach isn't bulging or anything, but she is definitely fatter. How can I tell if she is pregnant and if she is what do I do?

    I am guessing since you have them in the same cage, that they are Dwarf Hamsters. If so, it is possible that she could be pregnant. The best way to tell if a dwarf hamster is pregnant, is they will get fat quick (within a day or 2. When this happens, you can expect babies in 2-7 days.
    If she does have babies, you should start feeding her some hard boiled egg and diced carrots alone with her regular food. This will give her the extra protein she needs to help raise her babies.
    It is important that you do not touch the babies nor the nest until the babies are 2 weeks old. This is when it is safe to handle the babies for a short period of time and the cage can then be cleaned.
    By day eighteen, they will be weaned.  If you don't want anymore babies for awhile, consider housing the mom and her daughters in one cage and the father and his sons in another cage.  This will keep everyone happy.
    At 4-5 weeks of age, they are ready to go to their new homes.
