Question
Can a dwarf hamster and a rat get along and stay in the same cage?

Answer
Rats are more social animals than Hamsters, so many rats can live together.  Dwarf hamsters are more social than Syrian hamsters however hamsters overall are usually solitary animals,  I have never combined a rat and a hamster together before.  I have had enemy animals get along together just fine (Birds and cat, dogs and cats)but it all depends on how the animals are raised,  if you combine them whey they are very young then you might be actually be able to pull this off, however I would not recommend you do this, because unless you will keep a very close watch over them you can never be too sure how they will react later on in life.  Good luck!
