Question
-------------------------
Yes, I changed the cat food & they are eating it just fine. About underweight... When I weighed them Ping was like 2.6 & Mushu was around 2.2. I'm not sure what a healthy weight for a ferret is. To me he looks skinny & almost boney. I don't know what he weighed before this but I know hes deffenately lost weight. He has always been skinneir than Ping. Thanks again!

I had posted a question a while back about a skinny ferret. They said to start using ferra vite or something like that...anyway I've been using it & was wondering how long before you see a change in their wieght. What other things can i give him to gain wieght? One more thing... they said to check him for dehydration by pulling his hair back & if it sticks together then he dehydrating & to put pedyalite in their water. I've done that as well & needed to know how long to keep doing this, is there anything else to do, & can i give him pedyalite directly? He is still playing, eating, & going to the bathroom just fine. thanks

Did you switch the cat food you are feeding your ferrets to purina kitten chow?  You have to mix them together when you change food, but kitten chow would put some weight on them.  You can give them pedyalite directly but give them water too.  How much underweight is your ferret?  I guess I'm asking as if everything is fine with their playing, etc. are they just too boney and look unhealthy?  It's ok if they aren't overweight or too heavy.  Some ferrets are just small.

Answer
Actually, that's not a bad weight.  Mosts ferrets normal weight is that.  I had one that only weighed 1 1/2 lbs.  If Ping is boney just give him extra babyfood, (meat) and the kitten chow should help him to gain weight too.  It takes them longer to gain then lose.
