Question
i currently have a female ferret (1.5 yrs). in a week, i'll be bringing home a pembroke welsh corgi puppy (6 weeks). can you please tell me if it is in a corgi's nature to 'hunt' smaller creatures as terriers and dachsunds do? how should i go about the introduction process? thank you!-lynn

Answer
At 6 weeks, the corgi is young enough that it can learn that it shouldn't hunt the ferret.  That being said, I never leave ferrets and dogs unsupervised, no matter what the breed.  Just allow them to play in ferret safe room and keep an eye on them to see how the play time goes.  The ferret may either ignore the puppy or may try to play with the puppy.  I have a Dachshund and usually the ferrets bite and chase him until he bites and chases them.  They get along really well, but I would never leave them unsupervised.
