ferret cold

Question
my ferret, Roxy, has a cold, I have a cold too so I don't know who gave it to
whom.  She seems to be breathing fine and eating and drinking fine, she is
sneezing quite a bit though, my other ferret, Lilly, is fine though.  I am trying to
give her lots of rest to see if that will help and give her ferret vitamins everyday.
What else should I do?

Answer
Humans cannot catch colds/flus from ferrets, only the other way around, so it is very likely she got it from you. It is not uncommon for ferrets to catch seasonal colds just like us, and it's nothing to worry about as long as it clears up within a few days to a week. You don't need to do anything, she will rest as she needs it and will feel better soon. The only thing you need to do is take her to the vet if she gets worse or it lasts longer than a week for her to get better. Otherwise she should be fine on her own, extra tender loving care doesn't hurt!
