Ferret Carries Poop to Food Bowl

I recently bought a ferret and she is about 5 or 6 months .. At the beginning I
fed her once a day w/ enough food to last the entire day .. Learning that she
would eat everything and does not know when to 'stop', I feed her twice a day
with much smaller amounts.. But when she doesn't have food in her bowl -
this happens sometimes, but often enough - she carries some of her poop up
to where her food bowl is and drops it in or around it .. I've never seen her do
it but I can see the bedding in the poop so I know she brings it up from the
bottom of her cage.. i'm not sure why she is doing this! Please help!

It could be that she is pooping in the empty food dish as animals will often "mark" around food and since it is empty....You could take out the empty food dish in between feedings or use a food dish that is higher up - something attached to the side of the cage so she can't reach it to put poop in it.
