SHIVERING EPISODES AFTER BIRTHING

MY WEIM HAS JUST DELIVERED 9 PUPS WITH SEEMINGLY NO PROBLEMS,NOW SHE IS HAVING A BLOODY DISCHARGE WHICH THE VET SAID SHE IS PASSING THE AFTERBIRTH BUT SHE IS HAVING SHORT EPISODES OF SHIVERS.IS THIS SOMETHING TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT? SHE HAS AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE THE VET AT 11:30AM TOMORROW.THANKS FOR ANY INFO!

Hi. The bloody discharge is normal as long as it doesn't have a bad stink to it, and as long as she's not running a fever. It will last for a few weeks. As for the shivering, that concerns me. dogs' calcium levels can drop severly after whelping, and they may need calcium supplements. I would give her a bit of plain vanilla icecream, and then get her to the vet. It can turn into something very serious. I don't know if that's what is going on with your girl or not, as I'm not there to see what's going on, but I would get her to the vet ASAP just to make sure.
