my dog is 1 year old now, he is a cross between a jack russel and border terrior. the main issue is weeing in the house, i take him out in the mornings n he has several wees n a poo. i leave him for about 4 - 5 hours and when come home he's done about 3 wees and its wrecking my furniture.  second issue he jumps on the counchs and looks out of window but he dirties them with his dirty paws, how can i get him out of this habit? third issue when out walking if i let him off he sometimes runs off and wont come back, especially if theres is another dog. i've tried various methods to stop this and he doesnt listen. help please as my partner wants to get rid of him.

Make sure you train him like it explains in the article. Don't just put him in a crate and ignore him till he shuts up. Otherwise you could create a whole new set of problems.

You should never have your dog off leash if he does not come reliably every time you call him. He is not automatically going to learn to come, especially if there is something more rewarding for him to do, like sniff another dog. Make sure you practice come often for no particular reason indoors and out and always give him treats, good scratches or toss his ball for him when he comes. Whatever he likes. Make sure he is rewarded EVERY TIME he comes, and that you never call him to come for something that he will find unpleasant. In those cases wave a treat at him or run the other way so he chases you or just go get him.
