Nursing Diet and Supplements

Is it necessary to provide a nursing mother with regular milk in addition to her regular diet and water?

Hi Debbie,
No, as a matter of fact it's better not to give milk as it will give her diarrhea.  I would supplement her diet though with vitamins and maybe some cottage cheese and meat occasionally.  Make sure she gets plenty to eat and if you are feeding a good quality dog food then she should be ok.  Again, I think vitamins would be a good supplement.
