i just got a dog from the shelter a 1 year old female that wants to scratch on the door to go out . the problem is it is every hour and sometimes as soon as you bring her in she wants to go back outside and only a quarter of the time does she use the bathroom, the other times she is just sniffing around. i tried to limit her going outside to every couple of hours and then she uses the bathroom in the house,  how do i get her to use just the bathroom and not just looking around? She may just being doing that because it is a new place and she wants to explore and stake out her territory

Now what you can do is take her out on a leash and walk her over to the same place all the time,and as soon as she goes to the washroom,praise her and bring her inside
