MENSTRAL CYCLE

I HAVE A FEMALE BOXER THAT IS 14 MONTHS OLD.  SHE HAS JUST
STARTED HER SECOND HEAT. I AM CONFUSED ON THE CYCLE. IS IT EVERY THREE MONTHS OR EVERY 6? ALSO IS IT SAFE FOR MY MALE BOXER TO BE AROUND HER BEFORE AND AFTER THE 5-7 DAY PERIOD THAT SHE WILL STAND?

Hi Tonya, Their cycle is every 6 months.  When they are young like yours, their cycle can be more unpredictable until they become mature.  It isn't safe to have your male around her anytime in the heat cycle as sometimes they will breed even though it isn't in that window of her standing.  That is how a lot of accident litters happen.  It is safer to keep the male away until she is through being in heat.  Hope this helps,
