Dx by blood work sent to Texas A&M Vet lab @ 5 months age,now is 2 yrs old. Dry Royal Canin 2.5 cups twice daily w/5 pancraved pills crushed produces gas & soft serve stools alternates w/watery.Wt peaked @ 68.8# Aug 07, steady loss now 63.3.Vet added RCanin LF one can BID to dry,still losing,gradually changed can food to PetPromise due to no animal byproducts and no corn meal.No improvement,vet says add another feeding!Any suggestions? Is this the beginning of the end for my faithful companion.His dx was made at such an early age, vet states this problems usually do not manifest until pup is at least one yr old.

First of all, your vet doesn't seem to have been very helpful, so maybe it is time to look for a different one, or at least get a second opinion elsewhere.

Dogs with this condition do need to be supplemented with digestive enzymes, but maybe a different brand would work better for your dog. Many with this problem seem to be on Viakase or Pancreazyme, and apparently the powder form works better than the tablet. Some have even had success in feeding their dogs pancreas organ meat, if they have a good source for it.
