Dog Wont Eat

Question
We have a 15-yr-old Pomeranian who has been very timid toward his food for about 3 wks now.  If I sit there by his side, he is more prone to eat, but I've actually resorted to hand-feeding him over the last couple of days.  I thought he might be sick of his food, so I've tried a couple of different, good-quality brands, and when he was reluctant to eat these, I started him on cooked ground beef--even that, I have to hand feed him a few bites, before he gets going.
I have asense that it may be he is too hot (he has quite a bit of fur), plus partly old age--but perhaps some separation anxiety is involved?  If I leave the room, he definitely won't eat, and if I'm in the room, he walks from me to his bowl--it's really weird. . .any thoughts on this?  Thanks in advance.

Answer
Actually it sounds more like separation anorexia, coupled with heat and older age. If he has done this kind of thing before then it should pass once the weather cools down.

If it's a brand new thing, I would wonder about his teeth or maybe a senior wellness check to make sure he is OK.

Be careful with changing his food around too much, it may upset his system, compounding the problem.

I suspect teeth. I hope he feels better soon!
