Feeding turkey to ones dog

Question
I heard from someone that one should NEVER feed one's dog turkey.  Once during Thanksgiving, I was about feed the family dachshund some leftover turkey meat scraps.  My sister-in-law said that some chemical in turkey meat was deadly to dogs.  Myth? Complete fabrication?  Pls advise.  Thx!

Answer
Not unless it's a chocolate turkey.  Seriously though, there is nothing wrong with turkey, but its possible that some of the spices used when cooking them could be harmful - onion, for example, can be deadly to a dog.  If it's just plain turkey, though, unless your dog is allergic to it, shouldn't cause any health problems other than perhaps an upset stomach because they're not used to it.
