adopted a 1 yo sheltie from OK

we recently adopted a 1 yo male from OK and he arrived last Wed 8/1 having
had 2 plane rides.   He is beautiful but not eating well and not moving his
bowels. I have not seen any stoll for over 7 days.   He will not eat the food he
uis accustomed to. O&M and Bil-Jac dry foods.  He is taking boiled chicken,
cheese and ice cream and turkey  from us.  I think he is greiving.  We also live
in the city and he shakes like a leaf when outside with all the traffic noiser
and bus noice and WHew! the gabage men put him over!   Any suggestions on
how to ease him into his new life here. We are a loving family!

I know it is tempting to want to feed him treats,but it can actually make the problem worse,as he will not want dog food if he knows when he doesn't eat his food,he will get treats instead

What you can try though is to try hand feeding his food,and sometimes,believe it or not it's the bowls,some dogs do not like metal bowls,as they sometimes leave metal taste in the dog's mouth,and dogs dislike the taste of metal,so try changing to a plastic or ceramic bowl,sometimes it takes them over a week,but they usually get hungry enough to just eat the food
